In a vast mathematical kingdom there lived numbers and shapes of various forms. They always lived together and there was never any reason for quarrels.
One day, Five and Rectangle couldn't agree on who should take up space in the notebook and they had a fight.
Then everyone decided together to split into two states: the "State of Numbers" and the "State of Geometric Figures."
I'm sure we take up more space.
Five declared.
I won't argue.
Rectangle replied.
We'll build two empires, and there will be room for everyone!
Five reasoned.
Numbers will live independently, and geometric figures will live on their own too.
And so they built two states. On the right side of the notebook live the numbers, and on the left—the geometric figures. They felt great! The notebook pages are large, so there's no need to share space.
One fine morning, someone needed to draw a rectangle, but nobody understood what size it should be. The numbers weren't there—they lived in another state.
At that moment, Five and Rectangle realized they couldn't live apart.
So they built a bridge and started visiting each other often. They easily drew a rectangle with the right dimensions and made all the calculations to find its area.
From that moment on, numbers and geometric figures live in peace and harmony and cannot do without each other.
