A mighty oak tree grew

Like in Lukomorye, a green oak,
A golden chain was on it,
But a fox stole it,
The one who lived with Basilio.
Basilio — that learned cat,
Who walked around on a chain,
And with his anecdotes
Made the mermaid cry with laughter.
She
once, falling from laughter,
Broke her fish tail completely!
Doctors made a spectacle,
Sewing her legs on not to her height.
Her legs were far too small:
Three sizes too short.
It looked quite stylish,
Though a bit not quite human.
From then on the animals gave her a nickname:
She became known as Thumbelina,
And in this sweet atmosphere
She could have lived a hundred years.
But by the irony of fate
She was destined to fall in love, alas…
And her choice fell there,
Where you'd never expect!
Of all
the representatives of the stronger sex,
She met a hero of lawlessness!
Such a hooligan, who'd never seen the light.
He was called Dunno, athletic in build.
And outwardly a handsome boy he was.
Thumbelina, by the way, loved him dearly!
Their relationship, however, actually
Developed quite platonically.
Well, this tale isn't about that,
But about how this very summer,
A miracle happened to the heroes.
I won't jump ahead too much.
I'll tell you everything gradually.
Thumbelina has a birthday,
And Dunno is preparing a gift,
He's spotted a couple of foreign cars for her.
Plus silks, emeralds,
Lots of beautiful dishes.
But then there was a problem,
When he remembered that there was a shortage,
In their family budget long ago.
And to give his wife
a rich gift
Was not his fate.
And Dunno decided to go
And find her a gift in the forest.
But it was too lazy to walk,
He decided to take a minibus.
But he had no money for a ticket:
Just a couple of coins in his pocket.
He got out of that minibus
And wandered down an empty path.
Dunno went to the Thrice-Nine Kingdom,
Found a place
for adventure.
Dunno meets a girlfriend,
Who walks in a red hood in circles:
From home — to grandma's, from grandma's — home.
And she's always carrying pies with her.
And, by the way, she's been friends with the wolf for a long time,
And Gray faithfully
serves her with joy.
But this isn't about that now,
But in general, about how with this duo
Dunno decided to discuss his question:
In the end, what to give Thumbelina?
And suddenly Gray has a super idea!
After all, he once at his old woman's place
Exchanged pies for 40 rubles.

the chest door opens,
And two men look out from it!
Dunno and Red Hood, and the Wolf — all in shock!
Everyone washed their faces
in fresh dew.
They look at each other, at these from the chest.
And they turned out to be twin brothers.
It turned out that grandma had locked them up

ago, and then forgot.
They were lumberjacks once
And were passing by grandma's hut somewhere.
She decided that they were enemies,
Quickly put on
her boots,
Grabbed a gun, aimed it at them,
And ordered them to crawl into her chest.
Just then her granddaughter wanted to visit,
And she decided: let
the friends sit locked up
for a bit,
Then she and Red Hood would open it for them.
But many years have passed since then,
Beavers have been eating the chest.
Then grandma decided to give it to the Wolf —
what good is it anyway…
The chest is finally opened,
The duo from the chest was freed!
Everyone had long forgotten about the gift,
They hurried to tell Thumbelina
everything.
They walk through the forest, laughing merrily,
Dragonflies are chirping something in their ears.
And then coming towards them at an angle
Comes out
some strange lump!
— Who are you?
— What are you doing here?
— And why are you walking without a hat?
The Gingerbread Man looks at them and raises his eyebrows.
He's been looking for a red fox alone in the forest for a long time.
He became somewhat detached,

But he saw the kids, and his gaze lit up!
That gaze was far from simple:
He was looking at
the wolf's tail!
And long ago, contrary to human customs,
The Gingerbread Man was no longer a positive hero.

Red Hood, grabbing her legs,

through the forest at full speed.
Then Dunno, looking back, finally understands
That his end has come.
But not so fast… The guys
from the chest — they're no joke: they
beat up that Gingerbread Man
and messed up his face.
The Gingerbread Man fell behind everyone and stopped being tough.
Dunno, of course, was shocked,
From the shock he sat down on a stump with a fly agaric
And thinks: "I must, no matter what,
Thank
the guys from the chest."
Dunno granted three of their wishes,
Whatever they asked for, try to guess.
But then all three decided together:
"We'll take the old chest
to Thumbelina.
We'll give it to her, say it's a jewelry box!"
That's what a cool walk turned out to be.
Dunno himself couldn't have guessed
That the fairy tale world could be so harsh.
But he drew conclusions, got his act together.
Since then they forgot
that he was slow-witted.
They lived happily with Thumbelina,
The twin brothers often came to visit them.
The magical chest came in handy
around the house.
And so family happiness came to them.
