Once upon a time, a boy named Sasha and a girl named Anya planted a plum stone. When many years had passed, the plum tree grew as tall as Sasha and Anya had grown. They grew up, sold their cottage, and moved away. But they sold it to bad people who shook the plum tree and broke its branches. And one day a hare ran up to the plum tree and said:

The plum tree answered him:
Mean people shake me, and I don't know what to do.
The hare said to her:
I have an idea—become a weeping plum. And if a bad person eats your plum, they will cry.
The plum tree agreed and did just that.
The mean people came. They ate the plums and cried.
They say that even to this day, if a bad person eats a plum from that tree, they will cry.
