How Kolobok Made Friends on Internet Websites

Author:
Even Kolobok gets lonely sometimes. So he decided — I'll register on a dating site. That's how it all started. A modern cautionary tale about how Kolobok made friends on the internet

Kolobok grew and grew, and eventually grew up. And he began to grumble at his adoptive parents, saying, life is boring with you. The house needs looking after, and in the village — there are only old folks. The internet — heaven forbid — is only mobile, and even that barely works.

And who knows how the story would have ended, but while lying on the stove warming his sides, Kolobok stumbled upon some website. The creators of that site promised "new acquaintances and friends." Kolobok looked — and there was Vasilisa the Beautiful with a braid down to her feet, and next to her a profile of the Wise One, with a book and glasses.

And then suddenly the phone buzzed — a message had arrived. From a user called "Bunny."

Hi, I'm new here, how about you?

The message read. Without thinking long, Kolobok replied:

Just registered. How did you find me?

But "Bunny" ignored the question, only writing:

So what do you think about rope jumping?

Kolobok just shrugged his "sides" and asked, not yet knowing what he was getting into:

What's that?

Oh my, you're so uneducated, backwards, straight out of the forest!

Kolobok tried to write a response, but Bunny didn't let him.

No, you don't understand! There...

"What a nutter," thought Kolobok and blocked Bunny. He didn't know what awaited him.

And Kolobok met many different animal folk on that strange site. There was "She-Wolf," who turned out to be a friend of the granny from the neighbouring village. And even "Proud Bear" wrote to him with a proposal to go for honey.

Kolobok became disappointed in the local people, and even wanted to delete his page. However, just as he raised his finger over the button, the phone burst into signal again. He glanced quickly — and there... "Little Fox," and the photos, what photos they were.

Never before had Kolobok seen such a painted beauty. And the message from her was no simple one.

"You're simply wonderful! I want to get to know you better. My pics are here." And she gave a link to a strange archive.

Kolobok couldn't resist and clicked on that link. However, the archive came with a surprise. Instead of photographs, he only saw a mocking emoji. And Kolobok's phone shut down once and for all.

All he could do was sigh and head to the garden to help Granny and Grandpa dig potatoes. And he never visited such dodgy websites again.
