Once upon a time, a boy named Sasha and a girl named Anya planted a plum pit. Many years passed, and the plum tree grew as tall as Sasha and Anya had grown. They matured, sold their dacha, and moved away. They sold it to unkind people who shook the tree and broke its branches. One day, a hare ran up to the plum tree and said:
What's wrong, plum tree?
The plum tree answered:
Mean people shake me, and I don't know what to do.
The hare said to her:
I have an idea—become a weeping plum. And if a bad person eats your fruit, they will cry.
The plum tree agreed and did just that.
The mean people came. They ate the plums and wept.
They say that even to this day, if a bad person eats a plum from that tree, they will cry.
