The Tale of the Figure Skater and the Frosty Winter

Author:
An original fairy tale about a little girl who dreamed of becoming the best figure skater. And a miracle happened—her cherished dream came true! And the Queen of Winter helped make it happen.

In a small town lived a family: a mother, father, and a little girl named Emma. Not far from their home were several lakes where residents went for picnics in the summer. And in winter, children would run there to ice skate, show off what they had learned, and see who could skate the fastest.

Emma was one of the best, because when she was only four years old, her father gave her the most expensive skates in the store for her birthday. And since then, every winter day when the water was covered with thick ice, the girl would go skating with her father.

When Emma was very young, she saw an interesting program on television where beautiful figure skating girls twirled on the ice to loud, beautiful music. They did all sorts of things: spinning and performing various difficult tricks.

And Emma especially loved it when the figure skating girls danced on the ice together with their partners—boys. Emma could sit in front of the television for hours without looking away, and all that time she dreamed of learning to skate as beautifully as all those kids on the TV screen.

Emma also waited for the day when she would finally turn seven and could go to a special school where a beautiful young woman teaches children like her to skate on ice and perform the most beautiful tricks to music.

And then that long-awaited day arrived—Emma turned seven.

Mommy, Daddy!

Waking up, the girl ran into the living room and shouted with all her might.

Today is my birthday, I'm a whole seven years old now. Can I go to classes with that beautiful young woman who teaches kids like me to skate beautifully on ice?

Mom and Dad looked at their daughter with a smile.

Well, we prepared a gift for you. But you must be a magician if you guessed what's waiting for you.

Mom laughed.

Today we're going to your first lesson, where you'll put on your skates and practice with the group.

Hooray, hooray, this day has finally come!

Emma rejoiced and rushed to change out of her pajamas. In just fifteen minutes she was standing in the hallway, washed, fed, and dressed, ready for new experiences and achievements.

From then on, Emma began attending classes. And from then on, the girl had a dream—she wanted to become the very best figure skater. To achieve this, Emma practiced extra on her own when all the other children went home after class.

The girl would go to the lake with her father and work on her skating technique independently, without the instructor.

One day, on one of those cold winter days when the sun appeared in the sky but the frost didn't let up, and classes for the figure skating group were cancelled due to the severe cold, Emma decided to go skating.

Dad! Daddy! Are we going to the rink today?

As soon as she opened her eyes, Emma shouted without getting out of bed.

Did you do your homework? Let's have you study first, and then we'll go to your rink!

Dad answered Emma.

Dad, they didn't give us any homework, we can go right now.

Emma insisted.

But Dad didn't hear Emma's answer and assumed his daughter had started her homework.

Meanwhile, Emma quietly got ready, dressed warmly, took her beautiful skates, and headed to the lake by herself.

I'll just skate a little by myself, not for long, and no one will notice I'm not home.

Emma ran to the lake, put on her skates, and went out onto the ice. The girl was already quite confident on the ice; she could skate very fast and even spin. And suddenly, she heard a loud crack under her feet, and a huge crack formed in front of her. Before Emma could even blink, she suddenly fell into an abyss and lost consciousness.

Emma opened her eyes—everything around her was shining. The girl looked around; she couldn't understand where she had ended up. Only huge ice blocks around her resembled a real cave. Emma carefully stood up, and suddenly, before her eyes appeared a beautiful woman in a white flowing dress. On her head was a crown that sparkled like diamonds.

Hello, Emma. I've been watching you for a long time; you try very hard and skate very beautifully.

The woman said in a cold tone.

For some reason, Emma wasn't frightened at all.

Hello, thank you. I really want to become a real figure skater and skate better than everyone, so they'll show me on television and everyone in our town will applaud me.

The girl answered.

Would you like me to help you?

The woman suddenly asked.

She waved her hands, her crown lit up with bright colors, and Emma suddenly transformed into a beautiful figure skater in a sparkling blue dress. Around her suddenly appeared many spectators who clapped and shouted:

Emma, you're the best and the most beautiful!

Emma closed her eyes for a moment, and she so wanted this happiness to last as long as possible.

And suddenly, opening her eyes, Emma found herself in her room.

Was it all just a dream?

The girl wondered.

Then she turned her gaze to the nightstand by the bed. On it she saw wonderful new skates with a beautiful pattern. Next to the skates lay a performance dress in bright blue, the same one she had just dreamed about.

That was the real Queen of Winter, who makes dreams come true!

Emma understood and smiled quietly, because her dream had come true.
