In a dark and cramped little burrow
Lived a little mouse named Zorka.
Often he would run away from home
And squeak loudly throughout the hallway:
"I've come out for a little walk –
Who wants to come and play with me?"
Zorka's mother would catch him
And teach him everything she knew:
"Don't squeak loudly, my dear,
We are surrounded by enemies.
A cat lives right next to us —
He's a robber, a devourer."
The little mouse was uncontrollable,
He only wanted to have fun.
And one day Vasya the cat
Almost carried him away.
Zorka jumped into his burrow
And hid in the corner.
Now Zorka walks with his mother,
There is no more obedient little mouse.
