A white hare hopped under the fir tree.
"Almost midnight," the wolf suggested.
Though winter brought freezing cold,
Everyone wondered: "Will Grandfather Frost come?"
The fox rushed to the green fir tree,
She heard the voices of beasts in the forest:
"What's happening here with you,
friends?
Wolf, tell me, holding nothing back".
The wolf looked at the cunning fox:
"I don't understand your question at all.
You've grown old,
my dear,
Forgotten the holiday? It's winter now".
The hedgehog explained to the fox:
"On New Year's, we forest dwellers are all friends.
We wait for Grandfather Frost together here,
And we're calling you to join us in song.
Grandfather comes to the fir tree once a year,
He wishes everyone good health ahead,
He gives gifts and makes everyone laugh,
He surprises us with his granddaughter Snow Maiden.
First, grandfather rushes to the village,
Then to the cities—they're all lucky,
And only then does he come to the forests,
So wait, clever fox".
Winter in the forest is boring.
Animals snore, waiting for warmth and spring,
But on New Year's, the forest without troubles,
Under the green fir tree, a circle dance begins.
Grandfather Frost returns home by morning.
Of course, he's tired, he's very old.
He doesn't rest idle all year.
He prepares gifts for the next journey.
