They say if you dream about something hard enough, it will surely come true. Let me tell you a story that happened to a girl I knew from my neighborhood.
We lived on the same landing. Every morning, a girl named Lucy was taken to kindergarten by her grandmother. They would talk about natural phenomena: snow and rain, wind and storms, ocean waves and river pebbles, about the changing seasons.
Grandmother told Lucy about winter, spring, summer, and autumn. The girl was very curious and, at four years old, was unusually clever and smart for her age. Her imagination and fantasy were highly developed. Lucy tried to endow all objects and phenomena around her with magical powers and fairy-tale abilities.
On the way to kindergarten, when the little girl still wanted to sleep very much, but needed to walk quite quickly and relatively far, she imagined that she was sleeping, and everything they encountered along the way was a beautiful magical dream.
The flowers in the flowerbeds seemed to greet her, swaying their bright and fragrant heads, as if saying:
Good mor-ning!
The butterflies circling above the flower heads echoed:
Have a love-ly daaay!
The cars passing by on the road sometimes honked at each other, and Lucy imagined a melody for the horn, performed by an invisible orchestra conducted by a talented conductor.
The girl grew up, and when she went to school, she realized that there were many complexities she would like to simplify.
Although many devices had already been invented and created to help with household tasks, such as mixers, blenders, coffee machines, microwave ovens, hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, and others. But Lucy wanted something more, something that could make life easier for girls, young women, and women.
So that homework would be done with a wave of a magic wand, without straining or making effort, for example. And since at the end of each magic wand there was usually a small shining star, counting its points—there were exactly five—Lucy realized that she needed to study and get only A's. And she really loved learning.
And, sitting down to do her homework, she would address the magic wand with the words:
Star, little star, shine bright, help me learn and get it right!
And the rays shone even brighter, which delighted the girl greatly, and she learned her lessons quickly, joyfully, and correctly.
Lucy also loved going to parties that her friends organized for various holidays, and inviting guests to her own celebrations.
For parties, you always need stylish and bright, interesting and fun themed outfits. And for storing them, our girl had a magic chest with a combination lock, which she inherited from her beloved grandmother-sorceress.
On the eve of a party, Lucy would approach the chest, enter the code consisting of seven cherished digits, and when it opened, she would look at its contents with delight.
There was a double-sided mirror with a handle, in a beautiful carved silver frame. She would ask it for help in creating hairstyles and choosing makeup. Looking at herself from one side of the mirror, Lucy would ask for help, and a minute later she would flip the mirror to the other side and see her completely transformed reflection, with beautifully styled hair and appropriate makeup.
In this chest there was also a box with sewing supplies: needles of different thicknesses, colored threads, sharp pins, various scissors. And under this box were various fabrics, ribbons, pieces of trim.
In short, everything that might be needed for sewing. Lucy would ask these items for her outfits. She would touch threads of a certain color with her hand, and that was already a wish. That meant she wanted a dress of exactly that color. Everything happened by magic and her desire.
For New Year's, the girl chose a white dress, for March 8th—pink, in summer—red and green, in autumn—yellow, for Halloween—orange, and for her birthday—lavender.
And this girl Lucy also had fairy-tale helpers that helped her move quickly. These were wonderful catch-up roller skates, a fast zoom-scooter, a speed-bike, and light-step sneakers. She used all these items very often, which amazed her classmates.
But one day, disregarding traffic safety rules, without putting on knee pads and elbow pads, she went on her catch-up roller skates after her friends and, stumbling over a curb, fell. The bruise wasn't severe, but the disappointment of not catching up with her friends was great. Lucy sat on the edge of the curb and cried.
Oh, if only a kind prince would appear now and comfort me. And even better, if he would help me get up and continue the journey with me, being my support and strength.
Lucy closed her eyes and lowered her head. Lost in thought, she sat for a couple more minutes and decided to go on, not hoping for a miracle.
She raised her head, opened her eyes and…
Before her stood a real prince, in ceremonial attire and with a crown on his head. His hair was blowing in the wind, his clothes shone with luxury, and a smile never left his face. He extended his hand to Lucy and helped her up.
The prince was also on roller skates (nowadays all modern princes travel exclusively on roller skates), and they continued together, holding hands.
The girl couldn't believe her happiness, because it turned out that everything she had dreamed of came true!
