One day Masha went to the forest,
Took a basket with her, of course,
To gather mushrooms to bring back home
And pick some flowers to take along.
But on the way she got distracted,
Got lost! Completely lost her way!
Couldn't find the path back home!
"Oh! Help me, my poor feet!"

She ran! Look, a little hut!
In it an old woman sits
Wailing, groaning and creaking.
Looking very scary indeed!
Her leg creaks and squeaks.
It's Baba Yaga herself!
Masha approached the little hut
And asked the old woman:
"Granny Yaga, what's wrong with you,
Why does your leg creak so?"

Yaga looked at Masha
And said: "I've fallen ill!
I can't eat or drink,
Can't stand or even speak.
I'm ashamed to even say,
I can't eat you today!!!"
Masha is a caring girl,
She wants to help Yaga in this world.
"You must take care of yourself!
Come on, Yaga, get on the stove!
I will nurse you back to health,
So you'll live another hundred years!
For colds and sore throats,
Vitamins are what you need most!
Warm tea from lingonberries bright,
Oh, raspberries, save the day!
Honey for your cough to drink,
We must heat the bathhouse, I think,
To warm your bones through and through.
Rub your back with wax, it's true!"
Then the work began in earnest!
Before you could blink, the hardest
Part was done, and Baba Yaga
Stood on her feet, no longer tired!
"Oh, thank you, dear Masha!
I'm healthier now, more radiant!
I want to dance and sing,
Fly on my broomstick on the wing!
You can surely tell me true,
How can I thank you?"
Masha spread her hands wide:
"I want to go home to my mom and dad's side."
Granny in her mortar fast
Took Masha home at last.

Mom and Dad were very glad,
Their daughter had returned, not sad.
And they praised their dear Masha,
For helping Yaga through her ordeal.
And Yaga, waving her hand,
Flew back to the forest land.
That's our Masha, brave and kind.
That's the fairy tale we find!
