In the Ivanov apartment, there was incredible disorder. The family was preparing to move to a new spacious house. Everyone was very happy about this event, although moving is a troublesome and difficult affair. All family members had a lot of tasks, because all things had to be packed into boxes.
The mother had the most trouble, so she more often than usual asked the older children to help her. The girls, without hesitation, leaving their own affairs, agreed, because they understood how difficult it was for mom to cope alone with a mountain of problems. But the youngest Misha, running around the apartment, also wanted to help mom.
Mommy, I also want to participate in the packing, let me help with something too.
Misha said.
Well, let's do it!
Sighed the tired and worried mother.
She knew her son well and was sure that this help would be useless. Do you want to know why? Misha always did only what interested him, ignoring the requests of others.
For example, mom says that it's necessary to water the flowers on the windowsill and balcony, but Misha wants to vacuum the floor.
So what if it's clean, I want to and that's it!
The boy insisted on his own way.
And it was always like this.
Mom, how can I help you?
The restless son asked for the umpteenth time.
Thank you so much for the offer.
Mom said with a smile.
But are you ready to do what I ask, not what you want?
I can go to the supermarket and buy bread and kefir.
The boy announced his decision.
That will take you a lot of time, go down to the neighbor and borrow some. I need to cook dinner now.
Mom said.
Well, I don't want to go to the neighbor, I want to go to the store!
Misha started to argue, as usual.
You're at it again, I know what's better.
Mom tried to calmly explain to the boy.
I don't want to! That's it, I'm going to the store.
Misha said, cutting short the conversation.
Okay, go.
Mom tiredly gave in.
Just don't be late, dad and your sisters will be here soon, we'll have dinner.
Misha took his wallet and bag and happily ran out of the building. He quickly got to the supermarket, bought the necessary products and headed back.
At home, on the playground, the boy saw his friend Kostya.
Misha, look, they gave me a ball for my birthday, let's play together?
Happy Kostya shouted when he saw his friend.
Really? Let me see!
The boy immediately agreed.
He put the bag with groceries on a bench and started playing with the new soccer ball. Not noticing the time, the boy only stopped playing when it got completely dark. He immediately remembered his mom's request, because she was waiting for bread and kefir.
After scoring one more goal, he grabbed the bag and ran home.
From the doorway, quickly taking off his shoes, Misha said:
It's me, mom, I brought bread and kefir!
The whole family was sitting at the kitchen table, they were just finishing dinner. Among the plates on the table, Misha saw pieces of bread, and in the glasses—spilled kefir.
Wash your hands and sit down to eat. Put the products in the refrigerator, we don't need them now, I took everything I needed from the neighbor.
Mom said quietly and calmly.
Misha sat down in his place and, without raising his eyes, ate his entire portion. Thinking everything over, he realized how ashamed he was!
Before bed, as usual, mom came into Misha's room to kiss him and wish him good night.
The boy said in a quiet voice:
Mommy, I'm sorry, please! You have so much trouble with our move, and I let you down every time. I'm honestly very ashamed. I promise that from now on I will do what you ask. What's necessary, not what I find interesting and want.
How happy I am to hear this.
Mom said with a sincere smile.
I think you've grown up a lot this evening. I'm sure everything will work out for you. Well, now close your eyes, sweet dreams.
Mom hugged the boy tightly and kissed him tenderly and affectionately.
Misha immediately felt so relieved.
Covering her son with a blanket, mom turned off the desk lamp and closed the door.
Tired, the boy immediately fell asleep. He decided once and for all that from tomorrow morning he would do only what he was asked and listen to others.
