Once upon a time there was a princess, and her name was Mila. She lived together with her mum and dad, who were a king and queen. The princess lived in an enormous, beautiful castle. In her courtyard grew many different plants, from ordinary shrubs to exotic fruits. Mila had a nanny named Amina. The little princess was very fond of her nanny, as she was very kind, caring and sweet.
One day Mila decided to go for a walk. She walked along a path for a long time and met a boy named Vitya, who was 9 years old—the same age as Mila.
Vitya approached Mila and asked:
Hello, girl, what's your name?
Mila, and what's your name? answered the princess.
I'm Vitya, said the boy, Where are you going?
I just decided to take a walk, Mila told him, Because, you know, I don't really fancy walking around my castle for the five-hundredth time again.
Are you a princess? asked Vitya.
Yes, how did you guess?
Well, you said the castle was yours, so I thought you must be a princess.
Ah, well that makes sense. Vitya, would you like to come to my place for tea?
I'd like to, but will they let an ordinary person into the castle?
I don't know, but I think they will.
Mila and Vitya approach the castle, and Mila's nanny Amina comes running towards them shouting:
The castle is on fire! Don't go in there, or you'll perish!
Mila was very frightened for her parents and even cried. But less than 5 minutes later, she saw that her mum and dad were arriving in a fire engine to put out the fire. Mila was very relieved that the king and queen were alive.
The fire was extinguished, but the castle had burnt down almost completely. And suddenly Vitya said:
Let me ask my dad, and he'll build you a new castle.
Yes, please! cried Mila, So your dad is a builder?
Yes, he's a builder.
Boy, who are you, and what are you doing here? asked the queen.
Mum, this is my friend Vitya. I met him when I went for a walk, answered the princess.
Well, alright then, since you say your dad is a builder, take us to him, and we'll pay him any amount of money to build us a castle! said the king to Vitya.
Dad, open the door, the king has come to ask you to build him a castle.
Alright, I'll build you a castle, but let it be next to my house, so the children can see each other and play every day.
Excellent, said the king, Then let's start building tomorrow, and I'll help you a bit.
They walk and walk and come to a beautiful little house. This house had decorated walls, lilac roof tiles and a rainbow door. Vitya went up to the door, knocked on it and said:
The door opens, and the boy's father comes out. The king, queen, Mila and Vitya enter the house and tell the builder the whole story of what has happened. Konstantin (that was Vitya's dad's name) thought for a moment and said:
Evening came, and the royal family was invited to stay the night at Konstantin and Vitya's house.
The next day, from early morning, the builder and the king got up, had breakfast and set to work. Within 1 week they had built a new castle and moved in.
From the day Mila and Vitya met, they were best friends for life.
Many years passed. The children turned 13, 15, 20, 25 years old, and they are still very good friends. Their friendship continues to this day.
