New Year Miracles, or Dreams Come True!

Author:
A New Year's fairy tale about a boy with a cherished dream, about Father Frost's helpers – a Snowman and a Gnome, about New Year miracles and gifts.

The long-awaited winter had arrived. The first fluffy snow fell. The trees dressed themselves in white coats. Outside, everything looked like a fairy tale. Everyone was delighted with the fresh snow, especially the children.

Mummy, said the boy Sasha, look how beautiful it is outside the window! Shall we go and have a snowball fight?

Mum agreed. They dressed warmly, took their sledges and headed outside.

Many children were playing in the courtyard. Some were sledging down the hill, others were building a snowman, and still others were constructing a fort. Everyone was laughing and having fun. It seemed as though joy and happiness had lit up the whole world!

Sasha! Sasha! Come over to us quickly! the children called to the boy.

Sasha ran over to his friends. Together they built a large snowman. They made the nose from a carrot, the eyes from pine cones, and drew a smile on his face. The snowman turned out wonderfully – just like a real one. The children even thought he winked at them. This made everyone's mood even better. After all, such miracles only happen in fairy tales… Perhaps this really was a true fairy tale?..

In the evening, the children went home. And then a miracle happened. From under the little fir tree that grew in the courtyard, a little gnome appeared, wearing a red coat and a red hat. He was holding a little notebook in his hands. With small, clumsy steps, he approached the snowman and smiled.

Hello, Snowman! I am Father Frost's helper. I've come from the city of Veliky Ustyug. It's the home of our winter wizard! Please tell me, how did the children who built you behave? Did they hurt anyone, or were they kind and polite?

Hello, little Gnome! answered the Snowman. The children in this courtyard are very good. They were so delighted with the first snow! And what interesting games they played! No one even fought! Everyone was happy! I couldn't help myself and winked at them...

Oh! Snowman! You mustn't do that! The children shouldn't know that we exist!

Little Gnome, forgive me, but I couldn't resist the children's smiles, the Snowman answered sadly.

Never mind, said the Gnome reassuringly. I'm very pleased that the children here are good and well-behaved. I'll write the names of these boys and girls in my magic notebook. I'll pass the list to Father Frost. And when New Year comes and the coloured lights on the Christmas trees light up, each child will receive as a gift whatever they desire most!

How wonderful it is to receive gifts! exclaimed the Snowman happily.

The long-awaited holiday arrived – New Year. In every home, the scent of pine needles, mandarins and delicious food filled the air. Everywhere was full of festivity! Sasha's family was also looking forward to the celebration.

Together with his mum, the boy decorated the Christmas tree. And under the tree, he placed an envelope with a letter for Father Frost. Sasha dreamed of a remote-controlled car and hoped that his wish would definitely come true. He had behaved well all year: he helped his parents, didn't hurt animals and even tried not to quarrel with other children in the courtyard. After all, he knew that Father Frost and his helpers see everything.

On the morning of the first of January, Sasha, barely awake, ran to the Christmas tree. And – oh, a miracle! In a large, beautiful box, a toy car was waiting for him! The boy cried with joy: his dream had come true!

Sasha understood that wishes come true when you work towards them: by doing only good deeds, being a kind person and sincerely believing in miracles.

Don't be afraid to dream! The brighter the dream, the closer it is to coming true!
