How the Children Adopted the Puppy

Author:
An instructive fairy tale about a curious puppy who the other animals didn't want to include in their group, thinking he was still far too small. But Tuzik eventually found himself some true friends.

In a fairy-tale village there lived a little puppy named Tuzik. He was cheerful and sociable, had quite a lot of friends, but they found it uninteresting to play with a small puppy and constantly ran away from him, hiding.

Tuzik kept pestering them with questions: why, where were they running to, but his friends always joked it off, saying he was still too small. One day, hearing those same words again, the little dog felt hurt, cried and decided to leave home for good.

Tuzik took a bag, packed his favourite toys, took a book from the shelf that he never parted with — these were his favourite fairy tales, he knew them all by heart — and set off, following his nose.

The puppy wandered about the countryside for a long time, until one day he stumbled into a village. Running past a beautiful building, Tuzik heard children's voices, became curious, and decided to pop in for a visit.

The children, seeing a little puppy with a book in his paws, ran up to him, began petting him and asking about the colourful book. The puppy was so delighted that they were interested in him that he was ready to share all the knowledge he possessed.

The children, in turn, gave him a tour of the grounds. Tuzik realised he had nowhere else to go, so he decided to ask the children to let him stay with them. He very much wanted attention and care.

From that time on, the children often visited the puppy, played with him, and he would take the book out of his bag and tell them his favourite fairy tales.
