The Tale of the Grumpy Parrot

Author:
An instructive tale about a grumpy parrot who disliked everything. However, when Kesha the Grumbler found himself in a difficult situation, he realized his mistake and completely changed his outlook, becoming a respectable parrot.

In a certain household there lived a parrot named Kesha. He was very beautiful: a green breast, a little yellow head, tiny black feathers, a large grey beak, and little black bead-like eyes.

His owners nicknamed him Kesha the Grumbler: no matter what they did, he didn't like anything at all. Either the seeds tasted bad, or the swing was too small, or the blanket on the cage was cold, or the bell was too quiet…

One fine morning, the owners let the grumbling parrot out onto the balcony to fly about and stretch his wings, while they themselves puzzled over how to reform the bird. They decided to hide everything that was in the cage: the house, the toys, the food…

The parrot flew into the room and started his dissatisfied song again:

The balcony is cold and the rope is strung poorly.

The owners went out onto the balcony, and there the sun was smiling with its bright rays and giving warmth. They were once again convinced that the bird was simply being fussy and went to the kitchen for lunch.

Kesha's appetite was also aroused, and he flew into his beautiful large cage, but it was empty! There were no bowls with seeds, no swings, no house, no mirror, and none of his favourite toys either.

The parrot was surprised and became sad. He began to remember how much he had liked his food, the mirror in which he admired his beauty, and his favourite toys.

After thinking it over carefully, Kesha decided to ask his family for forgiveness, because after all, they loved him very much.

The owners forgave the parrot, and he never complained again and appreciated what he had.
