In a dark and cramped little burrow
Lived a little mouse named Georgie.
Often he would run away from home
And squeak throughout the whole hallway:
"I've come out for a little walk –
Who will come and play with me?"
Georgie's mother caught him often
And taught him lessons to soften:
"Don't squeak loudly, my dear one,
We're surrounded by our foes.
Right beside us lives a cat —
He's a rogue, a devourer of mice."
The little mouse was uncontrollable,
He only wanted to play and have fun.
And one day Vasily the cat
Almost carried him away.
Georgie jumped into his burrow quick
And hid himself in the corner thick.
Now Georgie walks with his mother dear,
There's no more obedient mouse anywhere.
