The Tale of Grumpy Kasha the Parrot

Author:
An instructive tale about Kasha, a grumpy parrot who complained about everything. However, when he found himself in a difficult situation, Kasha the Complainer realised his mistake and completely changed his outlook, becoming a well-behaved parrot.

In a certain household there lived a parrot named Kasha. He was quite beautiful: a green breast, a little yellow head, black feathers, a large grey beak and shiny black eyes like beads.

His owners nicknamed him Kasha the Complainer: no matter what they did, he was never satisfied. The seeds weren't tasty enough, the swing was too small, the blanket on the cage was cold, the bell wasn't loud enough…

One fine morning the owners let the grumpy parrot out onto the balcony to fly about and stretch his wings, whilst they themselves pondered how to reform the bird. They decided to hide everything that was in the cage: the house, toys, food…

The parrot flew into the room and started up his dissatisfied song again:

The balcony is cold and the rope is strung poorly.

The owners went out onto the balcony, and there the sun was smiling with its bright rays and giving off warmth. They were once again convinced that the bird was simply being difficult and went to the kitchen for lunch.

Kasha's appetite had been stirred up too, so he flew into his beautiful large cage, but it was empty! There were no bowls of seeds, no swing, no house, no mirror and none of his favourite toys.

The parrot was surprised and became sad. He began to remember how much he had liked his food, the mirror in which he admired his beauty, his favourite toys.

After thinking it over carefully, Kasha decided to ask his family for forgiveness, for they truly loved him very much.

The owners forgave the parrot, and he never complained again and appreciated what he had.
