One day Masha went into the forest,
Took a basket with her,
To gather mushrooms back home
And pick some flowers.
But on the way she got distracted,
Got lost! Couldn't find her way!
Couldn't find the path back home!
"Oh! Help me, my legs!"

She ran! Look, a little hut!
In it an old woman so grim
Wails, moans and groans.
Looks very scary indeed!
Her leg creaks and squeaks.
It's Grandma Yaga!
Masha approached the hut
And asked the old woman:
"Granny Yaga, what's wrong with you,
Why does your leg creak so?"

Yaga looked at Masha
And said: "I'm ill!
I can't eat or drink,
Can't stand or speak.
I'm even ashamed to say,
I can't eat you up!!!"
Masha is a caring girl,
She wants to help Yaga.
"You must take care of yourself!
Come on, Yaga, get on the stove!
I'll treat you
So you'll live another hundred years!
For colds and sore throats
Vitamins will help you out!
Lingonberry tea, warm and sweet,
Come on, raspberries, save the day!
Honey for your cough you must drink,
We need to heat up the bathhouse,
To warm your bones through.
Rub your back with wax!"
Then the work began in earnest!
Our Grandma Yaga didn't even
Have time to look around
Before she was standing on her feet!
"Oh, thank you, Masha!
I'm healthier now, more beautiful!
I want to dance and sing,
Fly on my broomstick!
You can tell me straight,
How can I thank you?"
Masha threw up her hands:
"I just want to go home, to Mum and Dad".
Grandma in her mortar, quick as a flash
Took Masha home.

Mum and Dad were so happy,
That their daughter came back home.
And they praised their Masha,
For being able to help Yaga.
And Yaga, waving her hand,
Flew back to the forest, back home.
That's our Masha for you.
That's your fairy tale!
