In a vast mathematical kingdom there lived numbers and shapes of all kinds. They always lived together and there was never any reason for arguments.
One day, Five and Rectangle couldn't agree on who should take up space in the notebook and they had a row.
So they all decided to split into two kingdoms: the "Kingdom of Numbers" and the "Kingdom of Geometric Shapes".
I'm certain we take up more space.
Five declared.
I won't argue about it.
Rectangle replied.
We'll build two empires, and there'll be plenty of room for everyone!
Five reasoned.
Numbers will live independently, and geometric shapes will do the same.
And so they built two kingdoms. On the right side of the notebook live the numbers, and on the left – the geometric shapes. They were delighted! The notebook pages were large, so there was no need to share space.
One fine morning, someone needed to draw a rectangle, but nobody understood what size it should be. The numbers weren't there – they lived in another kingdom.
At that moment, Five and Rectangle realised they couldn't possibly live apart.
So they built a bridge and started visiting each other often. They easily drew a rectangle with the right dimensions and did all the calculations for working out the area.
From that moment on, numbers and geometric shapes live in peace and harmony and can't do without each other.
And that's the end of the tale, now it's time for a cuppa and a biscuit!
