Do Friends Forgive?

Author:
An original fairy tale for children of middle and senior preschool age about a little bear that the forest animals didn't want to play with. A modern instructive tale that helps sort through a tricky situation!

A little bear sits on a tree stump and cries bitterly. A little fox runs past, sees him and asks:

G'day, little bear, why are you crying?

Nobody wants to play with me!

The little bear sighed and sniffled.

Why's that?

I don't know. I was playing with the hedgehog and the wolf cub, but then they chased me away!

The offended little bear rubbed his nose with his paw and looked longingly at his friends, who were playing with pine cones nearby.

You go over and ask to join in, say something kind: "Please". You can't force anyone to be friends, you can only ask to join in, share toys, be kind and caring.

But the little bear just cried louder.

The little fox felt sorry for the little bear, and he decided to make peace between him and his friends himself. The little fox went up to the hedgehog and wolf cub:

G'day, mates! You're having a great game!

Yeah, we're having fun together! We're tossing pine cones to each other, and we can even throw them at targets.

And the little animals cleverly tossed a pine cone each into an old squirrel's hollow.

But why won't you let the little bear play? He's so lonely!

He misbehaves, he tramples our pine cones. And he teases us too, isn't that right, hedgehog?

Complained the wolf cub.

Yeah.

The hedgehog nodded.

Well, forgive him, he won't do it again. The little bear's sorry about everything, he's just scared to come over and ask for forgiveness. Besides, let's all play together.

No, we won't forgive him, we're having a good time just the two of us! Isn't that right, hedgehog?

Yeah.

The little fox threw up his paws:

Suit yourselves, I'm going back to the little bear.

Just then the hedgehog's mum called him home. The hedgehog ran off, and the wolf cub was left alone.
