In a dark, cramped little burrow
Lived a little mouse named Zorka.
Often he would run away
And squeak throughout the whole hallway:
"I've come out for a little walk –
Who would like to come and talk?"
Zorka's mum would catch him quick
And teach him every trick:
"Don't squeak loudly, my dear son,
We're surrounded, everyone's a foe.
There's a cat living near our place –
A rogue and scoundrel, full of grace."
The little mouse won't obey,
He just wants to run and play.
And one day Vasya the cat
Almost caught him where he sat.
Zorka dashed into his hole
And hid away in his small goal.
Now Zorka walks with mum each day,
The most obedient mouse, I'd say.
