This story took place in ancient times. Times of kings and queens, princes and princesses, and of course, magic.
In that distant time, two neighbouring kingdoms that were constantly at odds with each other existed side by side. The only thing that saved these kingdoms from war was an incredible flower that bloomed at New Year and delighted the inhabitants with its extraordinary beauty throughout the year.
This flower grew on the border between the two kingdoms and was carefully guarded. The thing was that this marvellous flower contained incredible magic: a magical spark, gifted to the two kingdoms by a kind fairy, who hoped that one day they would live in peace and harmony. The magical power of this spark gave all the people around joy, happiness and love.
As the kind fairy had hoped, the enmity between the two kingdoms began to gradually fade. After all, it is very difficult to be in conflict when you are truly happy. And so the kings and queens of both kingdoms decided to make peace. At that very moment, wonderful daughters were born in both royal families, whom they agreed to raise almost as sisters in peace and harmony.
It seemed that nothing could prevent the happiness of the kingdom's inhabitants. But as it turned out, the evil witch, sister of the kind fairy, learned of the great power of the spark and was determined to destroy it and return discord to the peaceful life of the kingdoms.
Despite the best security that the kingdoms could muster, the evil witch still managed to reach the flower and hopelessly destroyed the spark.
News of this spread through the kingdoms instantly. In every tavern, in every house, people knew that the secret of the magical flower had been destroyed. As if by magic, all the inhabitants at once lost all their joy and became gloomy. The iron gates closed again, and the feud resumed.
And very soon, the New Year was to arrive, but preparations for it were now put on the back burner. After all, the new flower would not bloom, which meant the holiday was no longer needed by anyone.
The only ones who managed to preserve a spark of joy and goodness in their hearts were the young princesses Odette and Anna. The brave young women were determined to restore joy and the magic of the New Year celebration to the inhabitants of the kingdoms. There was nothing for it but to set off in search of the kind fairy.
Finding the kind fairy turned out to be no easy task, but the young princesses, driven by the thought that their beloved kingdoms would be able to celebrate the New Year in an atmosphere of joy and magic, eventually made their way to the valley of kind fairies.
Dear fairy.
Anna began.
Our kingdoms are in great need of your help.
I know of your troubles.
The fairy gently interrupted her.
My sister destroyed the magical power of the flower and an atmosphere of enmity has once again descended upon your kingdoms.
Yes, dear fairy, we would like to ask you to give us another spark so that we can restore the former joy and merriment.
The second princess pleaded.
Unfortunately, I cannot give you a new spark.
The fairy said with regret, spreading her hands.
Looking at the girls' distressed faces, the fairy added:
I want to tell you a secret: the peace in your kingdoms did not depend on any spark at all. It was merely a way to reconcile the inhabitants and give them hope for joy.
The princesses' faces became even more dismayed.
I will help you restore peace again, but in a different way.
And the fairy, without losing a second, as it was already New Year's Eve, transported the princesses to their kingdoms. And then incredible transformations began.
Richly decorated Christmas trees and lanterns appeared in the squares, and every house now looked like a toy. A sea of sweets, music and light. And most importantly, the gates between the kingdoms fell. People, amazed by the incredible transformations, rushed out into the streets and oh, wonder!
They did not quarrel and argue as they had before; they understood that kindness and joy are in their souls and they no longer needed any spark. Thus the young and brave princesses helped restore peace to their kingdoms and saved the New Year, which now became the most important holiday. The kingdoms united and never quarrelled again.
Read fairy tales and your family will also have kindness and harmony.
