The Clock Fairy

Author:
A magical original fairy tale about Snow Maiden, who helped Grandfather Frost so that the New Year would arrive and all children would receive gifts, because the fairy had fallen ill!

This incredible New Year's story happened in Moscow, of all places. Do you think clocks work on their own, with the help of a clock mechanism? Not at all.

In every clock in the world lives a little fairy who moves the hands and manages the clock mechanism. Where do you think the main clock fairy lives?

That's right, of course, the main fairy must live in the most important clock in the country, that is, in the clock on the Spasskaya Tower. Every day she moves the clock hands so that a new day begins, but the fairy's most important work is on the night of December thirty-first to January first. It is thanks to the work of the main fairy that the New Year arrives in our country.

Imagine what a tragedy occurred when, just before the most magical holiday of the year, the main clock fairy suddenly fell ill. Everyone gets sick sometimes, even such a powerful fairy as ours.

At that time, a great council was being held in an enchanted forest—the residence of Grandfather Frost:

I'm at a loss for what to do. Who can replace our main fairy?

Grandfather Frost sat with his head bowed low.

Other fairies have come to replace her for now, but they are not strong enough to handle the clock hands on New Year's.

Snow Maiden spoke up.

We need some magical character who could move the hands on the Spasskaya Tower and bring the New Year to our country.

Grandfather Frost became even more sorrowful.

Grandpa, so why are we just thinking about it.

Suddenly Snow Maiden perked up.

Why, I can move the hands myself.

A good idea, my dear granddaughter, but who will give out the gifts to the children with me?

Grandpa, what about our snowmen and the forest animals? They can help you and entertain the children.

And so it was decided. Snow Maiden set off straight to Moscow to make it to the Spasskaya Tower before the New Year. But it seems Snow Maiden was in too much of a hurry and lost the map of our beautiful capital. Now she stands on one of the streets, looking sad, wondering how she can find the Spasskaya Tower?

Look, that's a real Snow Maiden.

Said a boy, about twelve years old, to his friend.

She looks so sad, maybe she needs help. Let's go ask her.

Suggested the girl and, without waiting for an answer, headed towards the now very sad Snow Maiden.

Dear Snow Maiden, what's wrong? Can we help you?

The children asked the girl.

Yes, children, I'm lost. Could you take me to Red Square to the Spasskaya Tower?

Snow Maiden pleaded.

Of course the children agreed, and it turned out that Red Square was just a couple of streets away from where Snow Maiden was.

While the children were on their way, they managed to get to know each other. As it turned out, their names are Masha and Kostya.

But why do you need the Spasskaya Tower?

Asked Masha curiously.

Oh, children, disaster has struck. The New Year is now in danger. The main clock fairy, who moves the clock hands on the tower, has fallen ill, and now I must take her place, otherwise the New Year won't arrive in our country.

Snow Maiden said sadly.

We'll help you save the New Year.

Kostya exclaimed enthusiastically.

Right, Masha?

Of course, let's hurry, or we won't make it.

The girl pulled Kostya and Snow Maiden by the hands.

Snow Maiden was so delighted, for she hadn't expected to find such brave and courageous helpers. Soon the children made their way into the Spasskaya Tower, and before them stood an enormous and complex clock mechanism.

Oh my!

Snow Maiden panicked.

This mechanism is so huge, where can we find the hands now? There are only five minutes left until the New Year.

Don't worry, Snow Maiden.

The boy responded.

We studied clock mechanisms once in our young technicians' club, and if I'm not mistaken, the clock hands should be right over there.

And he pointed in that direction.

Snow Maiden immediately hurried there and managed to arrive just in time, for the New Year was almost upon them. With great effort, she managed to move the hands in time, and the magical time of the New Year arrived in our vast country. Grandfather Frost appeared with his helpers.

Grandpa.

Snow Maiden rushed to him.

We did it, and look who helped us save the New Year.

And the girl pointed to the embarrassed children standing nearby.

Well done, children.

Grandfather Frost smiled at them.

You are true heroes.

After thanking the children, Grandfather Frost and Snow Maiden took them straight home, and then set off to bring the holiday to all the children in our country.
