Uncle Mouse's mum was rocking him to sleep:
Sleep my darling son, I'll buy you a surprise egg tomorrow and a big soft toy.
But the naughty one complained:
I don't want a surprise egg, I want a remote-controlled helicopter and a different babysitter!
With no other choice, mum picked up the newspaper classifieds and started looking for babysitter positions. She rang 10 numbers, no one agreed, and only Auntie Duck said she'd come.
The next evening she rocks the little mouse to sleep:
Rock-a-bye baby, fall asleep little mouse, and tomorrow we'll go to the circus to watch wild tigers and eat fairy floss!
Yuck-yuck-yuck, I don't want fairy floss, I want ice cream and your voice is absolutely dreadful!
Auntie Duck was offended and left the little mouse.
With no other choice, mum mouse picked up the newspaper again and rang 10 more people. Auntie Toad agreed to help.
The toad rocks the little mouse while singing:
Croak-croak-croak, go to sleep child! Tomorrow we'll go to the water park together.
I don't want to go to the water park, I want to watch cartoons at home! You've got an awful voice, go away!
The little mouse replied, half asleep.
Auntie Toad was offended and hopped back home.
Sad mum mouse picked up the newspaper again, she'd already looked through 20 adverts. No one wanted to babysit the naughty little mouse, and only Auntie Horse agreed.
She came and started singing a song:
Sleep, little mouse, go to sleep, I'll give you a piece of cheese or we can open some caramel popcorn, just fall asleep.
I don't want popcorn, I've had enough of it! You're very scary, hairy, and your voice is dreadful, go away!
Auntie Horse snorted and galloped off to the paddock. And mum mouse decided to search online for a babysitter, maybe there would be more positions. She looked and looked, nothing seemed right, and only one advert was interesting. Auntie Hen agreed to help with raising the naughty little mouse.
She tucks the child in and clucks:
Cluck-cluck-cluck, go to sleep quickly, may you have beautiful dreams! Tomorrow we'll go for a walk in the park and eat ice cream!
I don't want to go for a walk in the park, and there's ice cream in the freezer at home, whatever flavour you want! Awful hen, go away!
Auntie Hen was upset, clucked loudly and left.
Mum mouse sends an email to her old friend Auntie Pike:
Come, dear, help me rock the little mouse, all my hopes are on you!
Alright, I'll do my best to help!
Auntie Pike replied. She came and rocks the little mouse, opens her mouth, but nothing can be heard.
The little mouse started to complain:
What are you singing? I can't hear anything! I can sing better — la-la-laaaa... Go home, I don't like you at all!
Auntie Pike got angry, flicked her tail and swam away to the blue sea.
Mum mouse is sad again and thinks, maybe she should ask Auntie Cat? She wrote her a letter, and she didn't think twice before agreeing.
Auntie Cat came and rocks him:
Meow-meow-meow, don't sit on the edge! Fall asleep quickly little one!
Oh, you have such a beautiful voice, I really like it, stay and live with us!
Then mum mouse came back, looking for her child, but he was nowhere to be found.
Where has my little mouse hidden himself?
Mum mouse thinks, and all trace of him is gone...
She rang Auntie Cat, but she doesn't answer, the phone is out of service...
