They say if you dream about something strongly enough, it will definitely come true. Let me tell you a story that happened to a little girl I knew from my neighbourhood.
We lived on the same landing. Every morning, a girl named Lucy was taken to kindergarten by her grandmother. They would chat about natural phenomena: snow and rain, wind and storms, ocean waves and river pebbles, about the changing seasons.
Grandmother would tell Lucy about winter, spring, summer and autumn. The girl was very curious and, at four years old, was unusually clever and bright for her age. She had a highly developed imagination and sense of fantasy. Lucy tried to endow all the objects and phenomena around her with magical powers and fairy-tale abilities.
On the way to kindergarten, when the little girl was still very sleepy and they needed to walk quite quickly and a fair distance, she would imagine she was asleep, and everything they encountered along the way was a wonderful magical dream.
The flowers in the garden beds seemed to greet her, swaying their bright and fragrant heads, as if saying:
Good morn-ing!
The butterflies circling above the flower heads echoed:
Have a love-ly day!
The cars driving past on the road would sometimes honk at each other, and Lucy imagined a melody for the horns, performed by an invisible orchestra conducted by a talented conductor.
The girl grew older, and when she started school, she realised there were many complexities she wished she could simplify.
Although many devices had already been invented and created to help with household tasks, such as mixers, blenders, coffee machines, microwaves, hairdryers, vacuum cleaners and others, Lucy wanted something more, something that could make life easier for girls, young women and women.
She wished homework could be done with a wave of a magic wand, without strain or effort, for example. And since at the end of every magic wand there was usually a small shining star, after counting its points—there were five—Lucy understood that she needed to study and get only top marks. And she loved learning.
When sitting down to do her homework, she would address the magic wand with these words:
Star, little star, shine bright, help me with my homework tonight!
And the rays would shine even brighter, which delighted the girl, and she would learn her lessons quickly, joyfully and accurately.
Lucy also loved going to parties that her friends organised for various celebrations, and inviting guests to her own festivities.
For parties, you always need stylish and bright, interesting and fun themed outfits. And for storing them, our girl had a magical trunk with a combination lock, which she had inherited from her beloved grandmother-sorceress.
On the eve of a party, Lucy would approach the trunk, enter the code consisting of seven special numbers, and when it opened, she would look at its contents with delight.
Inside was a double-sided mirror with a handle, in a beautiful carved silver frame. She would turn to it for help in creating her hairstyle and choosing her makeup. Looking at one side of the mirror, Lucy would ask for help, and a minute later she would flip the mirror to the other side and see her completely transformed reflection, with beautifully styled hair and makeup suited to the occasion.
In this trunk there was also a box with sewing supplies: needles of various thicknesses, coloured threads, sharp pins, different scissors. And beneath this box were various fabrics, ribbons and pieces of braid.
In short, everything that might be needed for sewing. Lucy would ask these objects for her outfits. She would touch threads of a certain colour with her hand, and that was already a wish. That meant she wanted a dress of exactly that colour. Everything happened by magic and her desire.
For New Year's, the girl would choose a white dress, for International Women's Day—pink, in summer—red and green, in autumn—yellow, for Halloween—orange, and for her birthday—lilac.
This girl Lucy also had fairy-tale helpers that helped her move quickly. These were wonderful catch-up roller skates, a fast zoom-scooter, a speed-bike, and light-step sneakers. She used all these items very often, which amazed her classmates.
But one day, disregarding road safety rules and not wearing knee pads or elbow pads, she went on her catch-up roller skates after her friends and, tripping over a kerb, fell. The bruise wasn't serious, but the frustration at not catching up with her friends was great. Lucy sat on the edge of the kerb and cried.
Oh, if only a kind prince would appear now and comfort me. Even better, if he would help me up and continue the journey with me, being my support and strength.
Lucy closed her eyes and lowered her head. Lost in thought, she sat for another couple of minutes and decided to continue on, not hoping for a miracle.
She raised her head, opened her eyes and…
Before her stood a real prince, in ceremonial attire with a crown on his head. His hair was blowing in the wind, his clothes shone with splendour, and a smile never left his face. He extended his hand to Lucy and helped her up.
The prince was also on roller skates (nowadays all modern princes travel exclusively on roller skates), and they continued on together, holding hands.
The girl couldn't believe her happiness, because it turned out that everything she had dreamed of had come true!
That's why you must dream. And if you're kind, well-mannered and study hard, your dreams will definitely come true. You just have to really want it. Read fairy tales to children, and magic will surely come true in your life too!
